I followed many a tutorial and i still had problems. Eventually i got it working perfectly and even better than various tutorials describe, as i can change channel on the dbox remotley and the stream changes to that channel... Also this method is far simpler as you only need VLC! And the and this is how:

If you are using a router, and don't have a static IP, get yourself a domain setup.
Ports to forward on your router to your PC that will be running VLC -> 8080
Ports to forward on your router to your Dreambox IP -> 80 (and possibly 21 - not essential, only for FTP)

Initially i had the Gemini image, but for streaming I personally find the PLiŽ 'Iolite image is thousands better, for streaming so i flashed that!

Open vlc player -> open network stream -> select -> enter

Tick "Stream/Save" and go to settings -> tick HTTP and type in the IP address of the PC that will be running VLC and the port (8080)

Choose your stream settings (these will depend on available bandwith) and click select all elemntary streams. My setup is MPEG1 - Video codec mp1v at 512 kb/s - Audio MP3 64 kb/s 1 channel

On your other system/handheld or whatever, open network stream in VLC or any other decent player and enter your domain/static IP:8080 (or port that you setup on your router for your PC)

Now your VLC will stream your dreambox channel. If you change the channel remotely through enigma, the stream will also change channel... far better than only being able to watch one channel that you have chosen from dream stream.

to change channel, just ener you domain/staic IP in a browser, and you will be faced with the enigma page!

I was browsing on the internet; I found this tutorial by accident.

Like you, I searched high and low for a tutorial I can understand.
Everything outdated, too technical, or too hard to follow ETC

This is the first intelligent and easy to follow internet streaming tutorial I found in a few weeks of searching.

So, I just wanted to say thank you !
