got a clone? READ ME!!!

reports worldwide about receivers dying. it looks like DMM have put a new 'driver' into the original image and its acting like some sort of time-bomb and killing the boot section of clones, including eagle boxes

gemini is affected, people are unsure yet if it affects other images as its the official DMM 'driver' thats doing this

a message appears onscreen saying warning - clone box detected system stop- contact you dealer -adios amigo then the box wont come back on, with no responce via telnet, dreamup, hyperterminal or any other means

forums across the globe are searching for a fix or patch for this, but at the moment dont know where or when the 'time-bombs- are set to go off

i think it is very unfair that they chose to do this when most people cant even buy an original dm500s now

Gemini 4.31 will render your clone box useless and only a jtag will get it running again, I haven't heard anything about the newer release.

The Saga continues.
The new Gemini release v4.40, will also "Brick" your "Clone" units. As, it uses the same new boot loader, Gemini introduced in conjunction with Dream, in v4.31. The only difference is, this time the two gave consumers "Fair Warning - Up Front", stating that "This image will not work on Clones!". It's best for Clone owners to avoid testing of any Gemini product above v4.20. The rest of the image writers material available, and the CVS repository, remain clear, at the time of this post.

This is where my political mis-behavior is aimed, so, I'll limit my comments, and, opinions at this point.

i got mine bricked by a gemini image and fixed it ok with jtag :D
